Output announces new penalties for 2024 Season 2
02 Jul 2024
Output Racing League (ORL) is implementing significant changes to its penalty rules for the upcoming 2024 Season 2 to ensure fair and competitive racing. These new rules aim to address actions detrimental to the race or competitors, promoting a respectful and sportsmanlike environment.
New Penalty Rules:
Offense Definition:
Any action deemed by the admins as detrimental to the race or to competitors, such as causing a crash/caution, verbally disrespectful or abusive behavior, or erroneously clearing a black flag, will be considered an offense.
First Claimed Offense in Race:
Drivers who claim their first offense in a race will receive an End of Line (EOL) penalty.
Additional Offenses in Race:
Any additional offenses in the same race will result in a drive-through penalty.
Last Lap Offenses:
Offenses occurring on the last lap are unclaimable and will have penalties applied automatically to the next race.
First Unclaimed Offense:
The first unclaimed offense will result in an EOL penalty for the next race.
Additional Unclaimed Offenses:
Any additional unclaimed offenses will result in the driver starting from the pits in the next race.
Egregious Offenses:
Any egregious offenses for detrimental behavior, on or off track, will result in additional penalties at admins' discretion including -1 lap, disqualification, and/or suspension from the league.
This change recognizes that drivers may not always know or be certain of their fault in an incident without reviewing the replay. The previous -2 lap penalty was seen as severe and often resulted in drivers feeling unjustly punished or forced to make an uncertain claim.
With the new system, the emphasis is on fairness and allowing drivers the opportunity to review incidents without facing disproportionately harsh consequences. The most severe penalties will be reserved for truly detrimental behavior rather than uncertainty or minor racing incidents.
Additionally, ORL found that previous rules regarding suspensions and disqualifications penalized drivers who struggled with car control rather than malicious behavior. These new rules aim to address this issue by focusing on conduct rather than performance.
ORL is committed to providing a positive and competitive racing environment for all drivers. The changes to the penalty system reflect this commitment and aim to enhance the overall racing experience.
Stay tuned to the ORL's official channels for more updates and detailed announcements.
