Daytona Beach, FL – Andrew Hennessy (#94) emerged victorious from a carnage-filled Millers Creature Comforts 150 at Daytona International Speedway, capturing his second win of the season and stretching his championship lead. The race, marred by an alarming ten cautions, showcased the perilous nature of pack racing at its worst, with a series of sloppy moves and poor decisions leading to multiple bone-jarring crashes.

From the green flag drop, several drivers, sensing the impending chaos, immediately adopted a conservative approach. Bryce Shoemaker (#43) and Travis Massier (#13) preemptively dropped to the back, prioritizing survival over early aggression. TJ Crampton (#03) joined their strategy on lap three, opting for a cautious approach in the volatile early laps.

A string of cautions in the opening stage, more a testament to poor decision-making than fierce competition, constantly shuffled the running order and disrupted any semblance of rhythm. Attrition, however, remained relatively low during this period, setting the stage for even greater carnage as the race progressed.

Cori Cooke (#61), skillfully avoiding the early mayhem and showcasing his strategic prowess, emerged as the stage one winner after leading nine laps.

Lap 36 saw the first major incident of the night. A multi-car crash, triggered by contact between Ryan MacLeod (#88) and Dylan Matthews (#20), resulted in Chris Champeau's (#12) truck flipping spectacularly through the air before landing on its wheels. Thankfully, Champeau emerged from the wreckage uninjured.

Pocono race winner Andrew Griesbaum (#68) saw his hopes of a second win on the season dashed on lap 43 when contact sent his car spinning into the wall, ending his race prematurely.

The most shocking incident unfolded just five laps later. Ryan MacLeod, multiple laps down, failed to yield to the approaching leaders. Travis Barnes (#11) made contact with MacLeod, triggering a colossal chain reaction crash that enveloped much of the field. The carnage was extensive, with cars scattered across the track and debris flying everywhere. "Words absolutely fail me…it was so bad from Ryan MacLeod,” exclaimed a flabbergasted Aussie Sim Commentator, struggling to comprehend the avoidable incident.

With just ten laps remaining, another caution set up a green-white-checkered finish, raising the stakes and pushing fuel mileage calculations to the forefront.

Mark Penticuff, driving a smart, patient race focused on fuel conservation and avoiding the numerous incidents, found himself in a prime position to challenge for the win as the laps dwindled. “I knew it was going to be close on fuel…If I can just keep track position and just keep everybody at least marginally behind…that was where all the action seemed to be happening,” explained Penticuff, highlighting his calculated approach to the chaotic race.

As the green flag waved for the final time, Penticuff lined up on the front row alongside Hennessy, his first Tuesday night victory seemingly within grasp. But as the field roared into turn four on the white flag lap, a chance at victory turned into disaster. Running third in line, Penticuff attempted a last-ditch push on Cremeens (#14) who was trailing Hennessy on the low line. The contact sent Cremeens spinning, triggering a multi-car pileup that dashed hopes of a surprise win for Penticuff.

Hennessy, having protected the low line to stay in front for the final dash to the checkers, cruised away from the carnage unfolding behind him to secure his first victory of the season. Joe Slama (#9), showcasing an incredible drive from a 25th place start, took the checkered flag in second place, a career-best finish, while earning the Autism Awareness Hard Charger award for his impressive performance. "I was prepared to push Mark (Penticuff) to the win," said a disappointed Slama, reflecting on the final lap chaos that stole his chance for a maiden victory. "It's fun to be in these positions…to battle for the win is always fun."

Despite triggering the final crash, Penticuff salvaged a third-place finish, his first podium on a Tuesday night. However, his error resulted in a penalty, relegating him to the rear of the field for the next race at Michigan. "It was kind of fun," reflected Penticuff, showcasing a positive attitude despite the unfortunate outcome. "I feel like I can trust (the front runners) a little bit more…knowing I'm going to get good pushes.”

Hennessy, who skillfully avoided multiple wrecks to lead a race-high 23 laps, further solidified his position atop the championship standings with his Daytona victory. He now sits a comfortable 28 points ahead of Rickard. Slama, Cooke, and Collins round out the top five. Team Watson Racing SJ Division continues their dominance in the team standings, holding onto the lead despite a strong showing from Wolf Pack Racing, who scored the highest team points for the second consecutive race.

As the Output Racing League sets its sights on Michigan International Speedway, the question is: can anyone challenge Hennessy's growing dominance? With a pack of determined challengers eager to dethrone the current points leader, Michigan promises another thrilling and unpredictable race in this wild season.
